EnVyUs defeat Gambit 2-0 (16-14 Cobblestone, 16-7 Cache) to stay alive in the competition at DreamHack Zowie Open Bucharest 2016.
The best-of-three elimination match started with Cobblestone, Gambit's pick. Envy took the pistol and the following two rounds as Terrorists to kick the series off before the Russian team replied with a clean first gun round win.
Gambit couldn't capitalize on the bad economic state of the Frenchmen in the following round, though, losing to Tec-9's and Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt's Deagle. It was all Envy in the first half from that point onwards, with Dan "apEX" Madesclaire leading the pushes and finding entries for his team with ease.
After taking only two rounds as CT and losing the Terrorist pistol, Gambit had an extremely unlikely comeback in front of them - but they didn't let Envy walk away with the win.
14-2 down, the Russian side managed a force-buy win on the back of Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov's play to get to seven rounds before Envy managed to get to 15.
KennyS had a great series versus Gambit
With Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer's team on match point, it once again seemed the win was just a matter of time, but Gambit kept coming out on top in rounds - with a 1v2 clutch by Rustem "mou" Telepov to make it 15-14 standing out.
In the last round, Gambit once again had a favorable position - a 3v2 on the A site, but an unnecessary push by Dosia was punished and NBK- clutched the round to finish the map 16-14.
Cache started with Envy in the driving seat once again, with the French team dictating the pace from the Terrorist side. Swiftly down 0-7, Gambit managed to get two rounds in a row by flashing Ivan "spaze" Obrezhan into A main to get an early pick.
They couldn't string more rounds together, though, with a 4v2 situation turned on it's head by Kenny "kennyS" Schrub proving very costly for the Russian-Kazakhstani side.
12-3 down at the half, Gambit once again had a big mountain to climb if they wanted to stay in the tournament.
spaze was a key player for his team and allowed them to take a few rounds, but a Envy got to map point off the back of a Deagle buy and closed out the game with a 16-7 score on Cache.
